3. TASK 3 - DEVELOPMENT & DESIGN

Task 1 & 2 recap:
On our previous task, we had to sketch 3 different ideas while still applying the design principles. These sketches also referred to our ideation based on the selected design poster we did. After we have all 3 sketches done, Mr. Fauzi gave us feedbacks on what's good and could be better. Through this session, we were then able to continue further to task 3 using the chosen poster my Mr. Fauzi.

Task 3 recap:
For our final task, we had to develop further / refine our chosen sketch through colour exploration, composition, typeface, positioning with design principles in mind.

Task 3 design process:

    - Original sketch

    - Refine process

Final Design: About Time

About Time_Khansa Raudlatus Syahiidah_Task 3

Why I made this design?
Looking back at the artist of my chosen poster, I took the idea of using a real life image of a picture I had sitting in my gallery. Originally, it was just a shop standing on the corner of a village, however, I really liked the idea of getting to capture both angles at once. As we had to apply design principles to this design, I wanted to put feelings to it through picturing how time can fly very fast. As this idea pops into my head, I tried to work on how I can make a "contrast" / difference in picturing "then" and "now".

The meaning!

As you can see through the color difference in 2016 and 2026, I tried picturing how the "little us" often see things around us with bright and only happy things, however, as we grow up, we realize that there are so many more things to understand and work hard on, and how living is not always about happy memories. The idea of placing the old version and now version of the person is a way to portray how younger us would want to grow up quickly, and on the other hand, the older version of ourselves reminisces and misses the old memories. Placing them side by side was to catch the emotion and realize how time went by quickly, leaving many memories behind and constantly creating new ones.
