1. CLASS SUMMARY
    Lecture week 6
In this online class on week 6, we were introduced to brushes that enables recoloring black and white colored photos into colored ones. Mr. Fauzi did a quick demonstration on both exercise, and also left us 2 pre-recorded video demonstration on how to do this task step by step.

2. INSTRUCTIONS

    Exercise 01 :
  • Rename layers (ex. clothes, eyebrows, hair)
  • Adjust brush size and select colors
  • Color the wanted area
  • For correction, select eraser tool
  • Apply blending mode : Soft light / Overlay
  • Repeat the steps over
  • Use layer mask for background color

3. PROCESS WORK
    Exercise 01 :

                               Before                                                                   After

In recoloring black & white photos, we are brought to look carefully into details, making sure we do not either miss out or pass the picture. Not only that, we could also play around with the blending mode, figuring out which suits best for the image.

    Exercise 02 :

                               Before                                                             After

In the second exercise, instead of using the brush tool to just color in, we used photo reference for colors, and the selection brush tool to layer mask. We even played around with adjustments and blending mode.

4. REFLECTION
During the process of recoloring black and white images into colorful photo requires patience for all the details we may need to fill in. I was able to play around with color and finding the best blending to fit the picture we are trying to recolor. I learned a lot about layers in photoshop, and brushes while doing this assigmnet.
