What is literature review ?

    Unlike other assignments, which use source information as evidence for an argument, in a literature review, the literature itself is the subject of discussion. Reviewing literature is an important component of academic writing and research and aims to gain an understanding of what is currently known or understood about a subject (Davies 2011, p. 217). Completing a literature review involves selecting, classifying and evaluating what other researchers have written on a particular subject. The process could be summarized in this way:

1. Mood board: 

    These are the mood board for my design cover and overall design of my dissertation paper. First of all, the background of my chosen color palette was taken from the color usen in Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), one of the main topic in my research. I used the same color to add correlations of my design paper to my topic. And for the typography used, I chose Helvetica as my cover page would may be a little crowded. Helvetica is used as it is simple and allow me to showcase my wordings nicely.

2. Concept Design 

    The cover page inspiration is definitely taken from train rails as my research is about train transportation apps in Indonesia. I mostly followed the first design idea, however, I used my own idea foe train rails and also added circles in my design as the location points.

3. Sample Page Layout

    For the ideation of my page layout, I chose to take the 3 grid and apply it on some parts of my dissertation page.

5. Reflection

    Through this project, I have learned a lot more about writing a dissertation paper. From writing styles, font sizes, APA style, designs and many more. Through this module so far, I was able to help improve and better understand, especially after taking the design research methodology module. Throughout all the process in writing my dissertation, I have received many feedbacks and help on how to better write my research paper.
